Hata Norio: first holder of PRC’s Permanent Residence Certificate

It was in 2000 when Hata Norio received the People’s Republic of China’s Permanent Residence Certificate. Before that he was awarded the Magnolia Award of the Shanghai municipality and he attributes this to the inclusiveness of this diverse city and also a historical mission on his shoulders.

“This Permanent Residence Certificate encourages me to further understand China and Shanghai and to push forward the friendship between the two countries. I am very grateful towards Shanghai, its vibrant growth and all the friends that have fought with me for this city.”
